Our Cohort 4: Neighborhood Narrators

Hello Grade A New Yorkers!

We want you to know that we beat the heat this Summer 2025! The Resource Club by City Lyfe Inc. and our Grant Associates ISP Interns—Ava Pham (Business Student), Hit Patel (Cyber Security Student) , and Kacper S (Mechanical Engineering Student)—along with City Lyfe Inc. Intern Aaron Jackson (Architect Student) , would like to thank you for keeping us resourceful throughout this incredible summer. Over the course of 6 weeks, our neighborhood narrators learned how to be truly resourceful through a series of skill-building exercises that allowed them to identify their professional skills, discover their unique strengths and talents, build lasting relationships with mentors and peers, and contribute to projects that made a real impact in our neighborhoods. Each of these remarkable young professionals brought their own unique perspective and energy to our program. Let us introduce you to the talented individuals who made this summer so special:

Professional Development Workshops

  • The program began with intensive self-assessment workshops where interns learned to identify their core strengths, transferable skills, and professional interests. These insights became the building blocks for crafting compelling resumes and cover letters that effectively showcase their unique value propositions to potential employers.
  • Knowledge building formed a crucial component of their development, with focused sessions on Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) fundamentals. Interns explored critical workplace topics including anti-discrimination policies, workplace harassment prevention, reasonable accommodations under the ADA, diversity and inclusion best practices, and understanding protected classes.

Resource Navigation & Collection

Through this comprehensive approach combining self-reflection, knowledge acquisition, and practical application, our interns emerged as well-rounded professionals ready to make meaningful contributions to their future workplaces and communities.

Learning:

  • Communication & Presentation Skills
  • Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving
  • Digital literacy & Technology Integration
  • Collaboration & Teamwork
  • Time Management & Organization
  • Adaptability & Resilience
  • Research & Information Evaluation

FPP Prep

The culmination of their learning came through hands-on experience organizing our Annual Family Portrait Picnic: Community Fair. In this capacity, interns took on vital roles including vendor coordination and outreach, event logistics and space planning, community engagement and marketing, resource material development, and day-of-event management. This real-world application allowed them to translate their classroom learning into tangible community impact while developing project management and leadership skills.
