Welcome to Writers on Writer Block by City Lyfe Inc., where our mission to be resourceful continues! Grounded in restorative justice principles, this community based initiative, encourages NYC High School Students like you and your peers, to be resourceful through resource navigation and community engagement. Here we engage in hands-on workshop(s) combining creative writing, and research skills to help themselves and their peers, to find resources for housing, employment, education, mental health, and more—preventing hardships before they become crises.

A Neighborhood Narrator is a researcher, self-advocate, community advocate, storyteller, peer leader, and community connector — a young person who uses their voice and curiosity to document and share the resources that matter most to their community. Our mission is to help participants build a personalized resource guide for their transition into college or career, develop confidence navigating systems, create a standout portfolio, and connect with community organizations and mentors who invest in their growth. Through this program, participants gain professional skills in research and information literacy, critical thinking, communication and storytelling, and self-advocacy — all while contributing to community resource mapping that strengthens connections across New York City . Every Narrator walks away with a tailored resume and cover letter, community networking opportunities, a professional reference or recommendation letter, a City Lyfe Inc. Certification of Completion, and a Raising Canes Achievement Award. Workshops are available for individual students through customized 1-on-1 sessions, school groups through custom high school programming, and the broader community through scheduled monthly workshops — making this opportunity accessible no matter where you are in your journey.
